:iconrainbowbummiecakeplz: Happy Birthday Jess~! :iconrainbowbummiecakeplz:

I felt this would be pretty sad by itself so I made a short story to go with it!

The rain just seemed to drench every inch of Amity Park that afternoon. Everyone was driving home away from the oncoming storm and trying to get someplace safe. Thankfully, this weather wasn’t Vortex’s work. It was just a typical thunderstorm but a powerful one at that.

As the alleys seemed to fill with puddles of water, thunder just rolled on from above. With the occasional lightning flash and flickering amber streetlight, the alley remained in the dark. As the rain began to lighten up a bit, a figure stepped out of the overhang of the roof and into the alley. He wore his hood over his head and kept his hands in his pockets, making sure not to draw attention to himself if it was present. A nearby cat that was rummaging through some trash on the ground stopped merely for a second to stare at the figure. It growled lowly, as if sensing something odd about him. The being only smiled to himself, holding his hood so it wouldn’t fly back over his head.

Heading down the sodden sidewalk, the figure just stayed out of the way of others. He seemed to know where they would step and move instinctively out of the way at the proper moment. Turning the corner, he stopped for a second. Because of this sudden stop, a small girl ran into his leg from behind him. She fell down on her rear with a thud. After she did, shots were fired from a car across the street in the direction of the figure. Had he not been standing there, the girl would’ve been killed by a stray bullet from the drive-by shooting. The girl began to cry as her mother rushed to her. The boy that saved her life was already gone.

As the teen made his way to another alleyway, he heard a familiar voice.

“Don’t think we didn’t see that…”

Swirling green energy formed on a brick wall as two beings came forward. Their heads were glass covers with a large green eye floating inside the green liquid. They wore white, gold, and black outfits with black, gold, and red capes. They came forward to the figure and crossed their arms, rather irritated.

“Why do you insist to save the humans? You know that there will always be more.” Said the one in front.

“You say that like I haven’t learned that over thousands of years.”

“Then why do you insist on rescuing them, especially when they are meant to die?” The other Observant spoke. “Do you wish to be one that badly Clockwork?”

The teen pulled back his hood to reveal his pale blue skin and silver white hair. He had a jagged black scar over his left eye, a reminder of his rather dangerous past. He just grinned at the Observants.

“Being an immortal ghost does have its benefits. I do not fear death because I haven’t experienced it. I’ve witnessed humanity, its greatest good and worst crimes. Even so, humans continue to thrive and have the urge to move on and grow together. That’s something we ghosts lack.”

“Are you saying you would prefer being a human?!” The first exclaimed.

“I did not say that.” Clockwork said. “I don’t know how to return to my original form currently but I feel a stronger connection with the humans when I’m like this. I’ve never felt like this when I was in my tower. This must’ve been what Elijah must’ve felt during his life and why he never wished to stay in the Ghost Zone.”

“That barbaric war prince?” The other asked. Clockwork nodded.

“There’s something about humanity that caused him to change his mind.” He said. “I’d like to experience this for myself while I have this opportunity.”

“You’re not suggesting we allow you to do this?!” The first yelled again.

“I am...”

“Do you have any idea what would happen to the time stream?!”

“I assure you the time stream will be fine without me for an afternoon.”

“You know you risk getting attached to the humans.” The second said in a threatening tone.

“I know…” He said grinning, his hood down and a blue ball of ghostly energy formed in his hand. “But then, I know everything…”

Hope it's okay! XD
